MDC will not be divided again – Biti

tendai_bitiHARARE - The MDC-T is more united than ever and will not be divided by divisive speculation about a power struggle between two factions, says Secretary General Tendai Biti (Pictured).

Speaking to The Zimbabwean this week, the man who is alleged to be plotting the ouster of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, said the party would not allow itself to be divided by speculation designed to divide and rule by certain individuals, including the state-controlled Herald. Over the years Biti has repeatedly described Tsvangirai as the face of the revolution, saying that the youthful party had managed to achieve in its few years what Zanu (PF) has failed to deliver in almost half a century.

He dismissed as blatant falsehoods reports by the Herald that his wings have been clipped, saying: Since when has the Herald reported accurately? The powerful Secretary General, who is one of Tsvangirai most trusted allies, also denied rumours that he was embroiled in a power struggle with Tsvangirais personal friend, Ian Makone.

He also dismissed reports of a kitchen cabinet led by Makone and his wife Theresa, saying he was only aware of one standing committee of the MDC. Unconfirmed reports say that Tsvangirai who has been away in South Korea told members who had worked to the detriment of the party to tender their resignations in order to avoid the embarrassment of dismissal upon his return.
