According to MDC supporters from the area, Mushowe said that the GNU was an urban phenomenon that had no place in rural Muzarabani, a Zanu (PF) stronghold. “Mushowe is telling people that there is no GNU here, and tells perpetrators of violence that they will not be prosecuted for their actions in the 2008 elections which he says were justified. He is currently telling the militia to prepare for more acts of violence soon after the World Cup,” said Agreement Kagura who is the MDC secretary for Muzarabani North.
Spurred on by Mushowe, Zanu (PF) supporters have reportedly been visiting schools where they chant the party slogans to teachers who are suspected to be members of the MDC-T.
A teacher only identified as Mujongondo at Chiridza School in Chimwendo ward was fired after Mushowe youth went marching into the school and demanded that he resign.
