Norway tells country to hold elections

Harare - The Norwegian ambassador to Zimbabwe, Gunner Foreland, has condemned Mugabe, Tsvangirai and Mutambara for betraying the people of Zimbabwe because of their failure to implement the political agreement.

He has called on the parties to draft a new constitution and hold fresh elections. Speaking in an interview in Harare, Foreland said it was disappointing to note that the GPA principals were not considerate to the people of Zimbabwe and urged South African President Jacob Zuma to speed up his mediation role.

Speed up the talking and do the doing. Start implementing what you had agreed on, solve the outstanding issues and deliver to the people because they have had great hopes in you and for the inclusive government. You must also remember that, for the inclusive government to deliver, you need to consider the aspirations of the people, he said.

He said his country was ready to re-engage Zimbabwe on condition the GPA was fully implemented.

We are still hoping that President Zuma and his facilitation team will speed up their role. As foreigners we remain observers. We understand that there are difficult issues that Zimbabweans themselves cannot do alone, but their hope remains in the SADC and South Africa to solve them.

Last week, the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) party led by Prime

Minister Morgan Tsvangirai called for a Southern African Development Community (SADC) meeting on Zimbabwe to help solve the countrys political situation and assist with elections.
