HARARE - Zanu (PF) has added the SABC to a list of news organisations that have to be monitored because they report negatively on the country.
The private media such as The Zimbabwean, The Zimbabwe Independent, SW Radio and Radio VOP are also on the list. While Zanu (PF) has always been sensitive about the private media, the addition of SABC has come as a shock.
A media expert said that Zanu (PF) is confusing SABC with ZBC. “Zanu thinks that SABC is similar to ZBC and should close its eyes when speaking about public officials, but the truth is that a public broadcaster should be a watchdog for government excesses.
