HARARE The screening of Next Door to the Velinskys, starring Zimbabwean-born Chloe Traicos, was a huge success at the Cannes Film Festival at the weekend. The psychological thriller was shot on a miniscule budget of US$30K from private investors and starred Matt Doran who also appeared in The Matrix and Star Wars.
Traicos, who is heavily involved in the Save Zimbabwe Now project, was confident that the screening had made a good impression.
More and more people kept coming in during the screening. I was worried we wouldn’t have enough room. Numerous sales agents and distributors have given me their cards and asked me to call them, she said.
