The committee said it was worried by the delay of the legal appointment of BAZ, following Shamus illegal appointments.
Last year Minister Shamu appointed his right hand man and media hangman, Tafataona Mahoso, to be the chair of BAZ. The decision by Shamu was, however, contested by Prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai because it was done outside the GPA.
In an interview, the portfolio committee chairperson, Gift Chimanikire, said they were going to summon Shamu to answer some questions on the BAZ appointment issue because the dispute had delayed the licensing of new broadcasters.
The appointment of BAZ by Shamu did not fall within the regulatory frame work of GPA and we are going to invite the minister to give us more information about his actions, before the parliament opens said Chimanikire.
Mahoso is leading the team in-charge of accrediting journalists and registering media houses at the new Zimbabwe Media Commission which replaced the defunct Media Information Commission which closed a number of newspapers in the early 2000.
