United confident of soldiering on

caps_united_trainingHARARE - CAPS United will be without the services of reliable striker Nyasha Mushekwi, national team captain Method Mwanjali, stylish midfielder Tafadzwa Rusike and a determined forward Oscar Machapa when the race for the 2010 premier soccer league championship title heats up in July.

For a team that was considered one of the strongest sides in the competition this year, after retaining all their players during the start of the season, any soccer fan will be forgiven for doubting that United will be among the big guns eyeing the tag. Such a departure of experienced and dependable players is bound to leave the engine malfunctioning. Even though Uniteds team manager, Wilson Mtekede, realises MaKepeKepe may never find a good replacement to fill the shoes of Mushekwi, Mwanjali, Rusike and Machapa he is optimistic of seeing other players using the opportunity to prove themselves worthy of being considered as tomorrows stars.

Im looking at this as an opportunity to other players who have not been getting game time to showcase what they have and I believe they surely have something to prove when they will get on the field, he said. It should not also be such a difficult challenge for us as the technical team to continue leading Caps United into impressive matches because our strength has always been in our unity. Last year we aimed at building and strengthening our team and we managed to do just that and this year we are planning to continue with that process.

Despite having no intentions of winning the league championship title and regarding it a bonus had it came their way, the Caps United technical team had not set the same goals with their followers who were hungry for the glittering trophy. Todays Fixtures: Gunners vs Hwange, Shabanie Mine vs Caps United, Dynamos vs Shooting Stars.
