War Vets new impetus

HARARE - The Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA), which is demanding compensation from Britain, is searching for families of people who perished in the war of liberation in order to include their names.

The war veterans, who have been silent about the welfare of the children of deceased comrades, seem to have found a new impetus as they are now demanding that Britain pays compensation.

“Those who died in the struggle had families who deserve honour for their parents who did not die in vain. The Z$50.00 of 1997 did not include them and those who died between 1980 and 1997, the families of these people are poor today,” read a statement by the organisation.

Critics have, however, doubted the sincerity of the association saying that it is yet another campaign plot by Zanu (PF).
