Celsys closing down business units to stay afloat

Bulawayo - Information Technology firm Celsys has embarked on a restructuring exercise that has seen some of its units closed down in a move aimed at matching the changing business trends in the country.

In its trading statement, the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange listed company announced that it had closed its marketing and web design business and its Nokia cell phone sales units.

“The company has also earmarked its IT Software business for disposal. The directors have resolved to dispose of its Sophos business.

The company has continued its strategic review to clearly define its business model for economic recovery,” read part of the statement.

Celsys said the company had recorded a much slower recovery that had earlier been anticipated resulting in the company concentrating on two key divisions being commercial/security printing and the mobile phone and airtime distribution markets.

The company has however projected a break even position by end of the financial year.
