The police officer identified as Annie Buche (44) was also being accused of stealing USD 300 in the process. The incident happened while the police officer was manning a roadblock at Chikwaro turn off in Marange, Chiadzwa .
Mutare magistrate Annie Ndiraya remanded Buche to June 14 in custody on extortion and indecent assault charges.
The state lead by prosecutor, Simon Chabuda, heard that on May 26, Alice Hatinahama of Hobhouse was in a car that was being driven by Susan Madzivire of Dangamvura high density when they were stopped at a road block at Chikwariro turn off in Marewo village in Mutare district.
“Buche took Hatinahama to a nearby tree where she ordered her to undress all her clothes including underwear,” said Chabuka.
He added that while searching, Buche she inserted her bare hands into Hatinahama’s private parts allegedly searching for diamonds.
Buche is alleged to have found Hatinahama in possession of US$500 and she took US$300 and gave her the balance.
“Buche also proceeded and called Madzivire whom she searched and found her in possession of US$220 and took US$100,”said Chabuka.
The two women were freed and made a report to the police in Mutare who arrested Buche who had hidden the money in a pit latrine. The money could not be retrieved.Post published in: Politics
