Under International Roaming services, prepaid customers can use their Econet lines in neighbouring countries.
This has seen Econet sealing roaming agreements with Mascom of Botswana, Cell-C of South Africa, Mozambican M-Cell and Zain Zambia.
“This means customers travelling to these countries can carry their Econet lines with them and when you they get there, they just switch over to the partner network in that country, said Econet Chief Executive Officer Douglas Mboweni.
Mboweni said the company, as part of the new package, has incorporated all its prepaid packages- Libertie and Business Partna- under the new Buddie Brand.
“We have upgraded our system to unify all our prepaid customers under the Buddie brand,” said Mboweni.
Roaming services have only been limited to contract customers and the new unified system is coming after months of development.
Mboweni added that Econet is working to get roaming to more countries, like the UK and USA soon among other plans to introduce new services like per second billing options.
