Fullness of joy

teach_me_your_waysIn this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father who art in Heaven (Matt 6:9)
Jesus never intended The Lords Prayer, to be recited word for word. Technically speaking this is not even a New Testament prayer.

You might be surprised to hear this, but notice its not prayed in the name of Jesus. Just before He died, the Lord said, And in that day ye shall ask Me nothing. Verily, verily I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it to you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My name. Ask and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. (John 16:23,24)

A New Covenant prayer must be prayed in the name of Jesus. Through The Lords Prayer, Jesus was communicating scriptural principles through this model prayer. What Jesus was saying was when you begin to pray, you must enter His presence by thanking, praising and blessing Him.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise! Be thankful unto Him, and bless His name!

This is exactly what Jesus told us to do, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Begin prayer by acknowledging your special relationship to God your Father. Dont approach Him as God, Judge or Creator. Thats impersonal and distant. Every New Testament believer has a close relationship with God that supersedes even the very best of what the Old Testament saints had! Isnt that awesome?

Come into His presence praising and worshipping Him. Hes your loving heavenly Father. Thank Him for this special relationship. Remind yourself of His goodness and mercy, that Hes not mad at you. Even if youve messed up. Hes not condemning you. God is pleased with you and loves you dearly

What would you think if you saw a child walk into a room where his father is. I know I havent spoken to you all day. You must be displeased with me. Forgive me again for.. Then continue begging and pleading for mercy and cleansing.

What would you think of that father, you would surely question his relationship with his child, that because he had not spoken to his father all day he is mad at him. What a terrible relationship!

Every one of us has entered into our Fathers presence with a sense of unworthiness saying, God, I havent prayed. Im not loving you the way I should. We come to Him focused on our own failings, instead of on His goodness. Our Father doesnt like His children approaching Him that way. If you are sorry, then praise Him for the fact that He loves such a sorry person as you! – If you have any questions or like to discuss anything I have written about email me at: rhf3@yahoo.com
