Housing director fired

MUTARE The Mutare City Council internal committee has fired its assistant housing director, Lovemore Chitima, who is linked to Zanu (PF) and related to outgoing Manicaland Governor Chris Mushowe.

Chitima was suspended for failing to adhere to procedural guidelines when allocating 10 stands and allegedly receiving bribes from would be house owners. The Mutare Town Clerk, Obert Muzawazi confirmed of the dismissal.

The council conducted a hearing for Chitima and he was found guilty. The internal disciplinary committee therefore dismissed him from work from the day of his suspension, said Muzawazi.

Through his lawyer Ashel Mutungura of Mutungura and Associates, Chitima argued that nothing was done behind Mapurisas back.

In fact, Chitima maintains that the housing director suspended him because of some personal differences between the two and that there is no tangible evidence to ascertain the allegations.
