JOHANNESBURG Suspended Zapu South Africa Province Deputy Interim Chairperson for Youth Front Mehluli Moyo has described Dumiso Dabengwa, the current partys interim chairperson as a dictator and sell out, Moyo also said Dabengwa was an agent of his former Zanu (PF) party and was out to destroy Zapu.
In an interview with The Zimbabwean this week, Moyo said ageing leaders like Dabengwa were politically impotent but wanted to be regarded as Kings.
“Dabengwa must realise that he is too old for any post at Zapu except being pushed to the controversial Council of Elders. He failed us while at Zanu (PF) and I dont see him bringing any change to our beloved country.
Dabengwa is a former Zapu chief of intelligence and former Zanu pf Politiburo member.
“What did he do with Matebeleland Zambezi Water Project (MZWP) or when he was Home Affairs Minister? Moyo claimed Dabengwa misused the money from the MZWP but accused the government of failing the project.
He has got businesses here in South Africa and I dont want to talk about his businesses back home because he owns nearly half of Matebeleland.
“We are closely monitoring him, he destroyed our province in UK and now he is destroying SA province again because he fears that there are a lot of young potential leaders here. He unconstitutional suspended Ret. Cnl Ray Ncube, Smiley Dube and Evans because they are potential leaders with his allie Edward Ngayaya Ndlovu who used to terrorise our people with the malevolent war veterans chairman Jabulani Sibanda.
“Dabengwa is working on a Zanu (PF) ticket, there is no doubt about that. He is really working hard to destroy Zapu with his self imposed SA provincial interim Publicist Luke Sayi, who is a cousin to the Defence Minister Mnangagwa.
“Two weeks ago they suspended the sitting Provincial chairperson Dubizizwe Joli unconstitutionally because he is also a potential leader. We are not going to take that, instead we dont want Dabengwa to be our leader again, we need young fresh blood,” he added.
Moyo went on to suggest that people must select Dr. Larry Mbobo as their National Candidate when they converge for the national Congress in August.
“We need Mbobo to head us nationally, I will campaign for him until he comes to power, he is a genuine leader.
“We are tired of these state agents, they must be at Magnet House but they are busy disturbing us.”
Of late Zapu SA province has been engulfed by divisions after Sayi and Deputy Chairperson Sibekithemba Njani unconstitutionally suspended Joli two weeks ago. They went on to create a new provincial structure, which the provincial youth front also dissolved as they did not recognise it. Dabengwa has been accused of being quiet amid all these issues and of fuelling divisions in the provinces.
Two years ago Zapu divorced from a 21 year old marriage with Zanu (PF).
