Sponsored walk for children

ROCHESTER - Now that summer has finally arrived, many people are starting to look forward to the sponsored walk to Rochester in support of the children of Zimbabwe.

As well as helping a very worthwhile cause, it will be a most enjoyable day out with a range of walks through the lovely Kent countryside. The organisers hope that many more people will register to participate at www.justchildren.org.uk.

The event will take place on Saturday July 10th (and July 9th for those who are very keen). It is suitable for almost everybody. Walks range from 1.5 miles to 30 miles and they all end at Rochester where there will be (an optional) cathedral service with Shona choir at 5.30pm.

Just Children Foundation provides homes for children, many of whom were previously living on the streets in Zimbabwe. The charity has two childrens homes but aims to place children in foster families who are given modest financial assistance including the costs of education. This year, much of the money raised from the sponsored walk will be used to help the children in the care of Just Children Foundation to go to school. For example, 50 will pay for a childs school fees for a term, while 40 will buy a school uniform.

This event repeats one which took place in 2008 when an astonishing 50,000 was raised. Can you help make this years walk an even greater success? For more details please see www.justchildren.org.uk or email walk@justchildren.org.uk.
