According to party sources in Bulawayo, senior Zanu (PF) officials including politburo members donated six beasts for the congress, but the provincial executive only donated 100kgs of meat towards the congress.
The theft was discovered when some of the politicians, who donated the beasts discovered that their donations were not reflected on the donations report, which was released by the partys finance department recently. They were shocked that according to the report Bulawayo had forwarded only 100 kgs of meat yet six beasts had been donated, said a source in Zanu (PF).
Some of the politburo members who donated the beasts were Sikhanyiso Ndlovu, the partys Secretary for Education in the politburo as well as the Mines Minister Obert Mpofu.
Some of the donated beasts were allegedly discovered at a farm of one of a member of the provincial executive in Nyamandlovu.
When reached for comment the Zanu (PF) provincial executive chairperson Isaac Dakamela confirmed the incident.
I cannot comment anything about the issue because it is under police investigations, said Dakamela.
During the partys peoples conference held in Bindura in 2008 daring Zanu (PF) cadres turned into thieves and stole nine beasts meant to be slaughtered at the partys annual conference.
