The MDC officials, who are brothers, Lovemore and Passmore Nyamana, were last week abducted from Gutaurare business centre in Mutare South by the Zanu (PF) intelligence officers driving a white Mitsubishi truck and taken to a secret torture base in the city.
The Nyamana brothers who are chairperson and committee member of Ward 36 were found in Mutare last Monday morning after being dumped.
Their abductors told the two that they had been too vocal during the Constitution-making outreach meeting that was held at Madanga business centre the previous week.
The brothers told The Zimbabwean that they were prepared to identify their captors.
We were assaulted and were heavily beaten with the backs of guns. They (CIO) openly told us that we were being punished for being too vocal because we would influence other supporters to be against Zanu (PF).
An MDC official in Gutaurare in Mutare South said: Plain clothes officials came up here and arrested the brothers. They were taken to the police station where they were beaten. We want to hunt for these men who committed thisact as we will be able to identify them.
The two made a report at Gutaurare police station and received treatment for their injuries in Mutare.
