Murape beat another Zimbabwean coach, Ian Gorowa, for the Dynamos job. Dynamos have tasked Murape to take Dynamos from the unfashionable lower league to the top flight ABSA Premiership.
Murape, who conducted trials for possible new players last week, said he is looking to beef up his side ahead of the season, which kicks off next month.
I believe that we can do well this season and there is no reason to doubt that we are able to get promoted into the topflight. We are building a strong team, said Murape.
He added that 12 players are currently contracted to the club and that 14 others would be selected from the trials to bring the number to 26. The players who are eventually chosen will have to undergo medical tests before they are offered contracts, he said.
Murape has a vast knowledge of South African football after having coached United FC, Nathi Lions in the National First Division. He has also had stints at Ria Stars and Black Leopards.
The much-travelled coach once coached the Zimbabwe Warriors and also at one time took charge of the Namibian national team.
Shepherd is the right person to take us back into the Premiership. We have all the confidence in his abilities because he has an impressive track record, said Dynamos chairman Pat Malabela.
