One Goal in Zim

one_goalHARARE Zimbabwe will hopefully be involved in the One Goal campaign that has been initiated by FIFA and aims to provide millions of children across the world with free education, according to the Minister of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture, Dave Coltart.

“I am unaware whether the country will be a part but I certainly hope that we become involved,” he said.

Coltart expressed his concern that Zimbabwe had been left behind in many international initiatives and said that hopefully the same would not happen with the One Goal campaign.

The ZIFA Chief executive officer, Henrietta Rushwaya, said she was unsure as to whether or not Zimbabwe was to be part of the beneficiaries.

“At the moment I’m not sure,” she said. Richard Lee, a one goal central team member in South Africa said the campaign was not a project organisation, but a global political campaign to get governments around the world together and discuss about education.

“The beneficiaries are not specific, but the major aim is to make sure that millions of children around the world receive free education,” he said.

Lee added that the South African government was hosting an education summit where heads of states would be invited.

“I am not to sure about the list of invites. I haven’t seen the final list, but what I do know is that over 10 African leaders and other world leaders plus the United Nations Secretary General would be there. As I said I don’t have the final guest list,” he said.
