Through faith in Christ we transferred kingdoms; Jesus delivered us and set us in the kingdom of light. The evil one lost his legal hold on us completely and we now belong to our loving heavenly Father. For this we give Him praise! Christs model prayer started with praise and ended with praise: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.. and ended in praise, For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever. (Matthew 6:9,13)
Some people call this the Sandwich Technique. Start your prayer thanking Him, praising Him, and declaring how great He is. Then slide in your petition and end by praising Him. When you slide your petition between praise, you will discover that you dont really have that much to ask for.
Prayers like, Oh God, things are really tough, I remember my parents had no money always struggling and this is whats happening to me. Oh God help me! Another prayer, Lord Im always sick, the doctors dont know whats wrong with me. My aunt had the same problem and she died from it. Oh Lord Im so afraid.
That kind of prayer just discourages you. It builds fear and depression. Why not pray like this, Father it says in Ephesians that the name of Jesus is above every name, and we are joint heirs with Christ, therefore Jesus You are above poverty, Your name is above sickness and as Im a joint heir with You, Im above poverty! Im above sickness! Thank you, You are more powerful than the problems in this world.
Spend time five to 10 minutes praising Him and telling Him how awesome He is. By the time you want to put your request in, your prayer is more like, Lord this problem I have is nothing compared to You. Father I know that these bills that need to be paid are easy for You. So since Jesus has paid for poverty when He died for me I thank you that you are going to make a way to pay these bills. Then go back to worshiping Him.
Many people pray, Our Judge, which art in heaven. You are so far away. Oh God Im going to die and then they spend 40 minutes talking about what the doctor said before ending with, heal me in the name of Jesus, if it be thy will.
