Mbofana to coach SAs Dynamos

POLOKWANE Former Young Warriors coach Phillip Mbofana has joined South African lower division side Dynamos as coach, replacing countryman, Shepherd Murape.

Dynamos play in South Africas First Division Inland Stream, which is equivalent to Zimbabwes Division One.

Mbofana, a former Zimbabwe Under 20 and Under 23 coach who has also coached in Swaziland, signed a one year deal with the Limpopo-based former ABSA Premiership club, but has an option of renewing his stay, based on the teams performance.

However, the Zimbabwean gaffer will stay on the sidelines for the next few weeks, as the club is still awaiting his work permit, applied for last the week.

Mbofana will lead the team this season and will working with Allan Freese as his assistant, said Dynamos managing director, July Malabela.

We have wrapped up everything in terms of contractual agreements and once the papers are ready, Mbofana will officially resume his duties.

The Zimbabwean coach has in recent years coached Swazi clubs Mbabane Highlanders, XI Men in Flight and Pigg’s Peak Bush Bucks, while back home he once coached the now defunct Mhangura.

Mbofana quit Mbabane Highlanders late last year, citing an unfavourable working environment and the non-payment of his salary among the several reasons why he decided to throw in the towel.

He also accused the Mbabane Highlanders executive of poking their noses into technical matters.
