Its not a matter of begging Him to become motivated. But we must pray and cry out and ask God to pour out His Spirit. Thats slander! He already did. (Acts 2:1-4) People think God is not moving because He is annoyed with us because there is so much sin in our lives. We must plead for mercy! Thats wrong, Jesus loves us, and he is not mad with us.
People think because God judged Sodom and Gomorrah, then He will judge Zimbabwe. People say the floods that came with Katrina and destroyed New Orleans was a judgement on America. If this is so can you tell me why the most wicked area in New Orleans was not damaged by the flood? Surely if this was judgement time for America, the baddies would have received the brunt of Gods punishment. Sodom and Gomorrah was before the cross where Christ died for us. Theres a big difference between then and now.
Does that mean, since God is not going to judge us, were safe, secure and problem free? No! Were ruining ourselves by giving place to the devil! If Zimbabwe doesnt turn around from going in the wrong direction, theres far worse ahead. But its not God whos causing the tragedy, forsaking us or with holding His Spirit. Weve turned our back on Him. Yes we must repent and turn from our self-destructive ways, but we dont need to plead with God to pour out His Spirit again. Can you see the difference?
Most Christians believe the only difference between the Old and New Testament is one blank page in the Bible. They dont understand that there is a huge difference between the two – and this also includes prayer! In Genesis 18, God visited Abraham and promised him some great blessings, but also told him that He was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.
Abraham then began to intercede on behalf of Sodom and Gomorra. Now this is definitely not the way we should pray. Abraham was able to as he was still under the Old Covenant and Jesus had not yet atoned for the worlds sins.
See people say, God is mad at us! If our country does not repent, Hes going to judge us! This is simply not true. Yes, He judged Sodom and Gomorrah, but no, Gods not going to do the same thing today.
At the time of Sodom and Gomorrah, the Lords wrath toward sin had not been satisfied. Therefore, He judged them and did similar things in the Old Testament. However Jesus Christ made a huge difference! Now we are in the New Covenant and Gods anger towards sin has been appeased. – I would love to hear from anyone who is reading these articles.
