Things have not been plain sailing for Dynamos both on the international and domestic fronts. The Harare kicked off their mini-league campaign on a bad note, losing 0-2 to reigning African Champions TP Mazembe at home before another morale sapping defeat away to Esperance of Tunisia last weekend.

On the domestic front, DeMbare who had looked poised to equal the CAPS United record of 2004 had their unbeaten run in the league brought to a halt by Motor Action when they beat them 2-1 a week ago. The defeat lifted Motor Action to the top of the league table with 25 points while Dynamos remained on 24 points from nine matches.

The defeat also meant that Dynamos failed to equal the CAPS United record of 2004 when they went for nine straight wins on their way to championship glory. And Dynamos coach Elvis “Chuchu” Chiweshe should be feeling the heat as he faces the coal miners today. The fall out between the coach and his most trusted striker Evans Gwekwerere has not helped matters.

Media reports said there was a dressing room bust up between Gwekwerere and his coach after he was left out of the team that lost to Motor Action and Esperance. Gwekwerere queried the coach’s decision to leave him out of the team in both games. However, Chiweshe is reported to have lashed out at the striker, telling him to get a little a bit more education presumably so that he can be able to understand better how coaches work.

It remains to be seen whether Chuchu and DeMbare have put behind the problems rocking their camp as the tackle a Hwange side that should be hoping to capitalise on the slightest signs of division or weakness in their hosts camp. Hwanges Zambian coach Tennant Chilumba said his team was ready for the clash against Dynamos.”It will be a very tough match but my guys are ready for the encounter. Cup games are difficult but we will give it our best,” he said last week.

After their clash against Hwange, Dynamos will also take on KIglon in a league match on Tuesday while league champions Gunners will be involved in a replay of the BancABC with Lengthens at Gwanzura the same day. Tomorrow, Highlanders take on Bantu Rovers at Barbourfields in another BancABC quarterfinal tie.
