The Mighty Bulls have now amassed a total of 38 points from 15 matches while Dynamos are still trailing on second position with 29 points but have four games in hand.
The Eric Rosen side have won 12 games in the campaign so far, drawing two and losing just one- an impressive performance for a modest club that has not tasted championship glory since its formation.
And trailing Dynamos are defending champions Gunners who are on third position with 27 points from 14 matches and have already made it clear that they are ready to defend their league title.
Asbestos miners Shabanie Mine now under the guidance of former Warriors defender John Phiri a just a rung below Gunners because of an inferior goal difference.
Hwange also trail Shabanie with 22 points from 15 matches.
The traditional big guns CAPS United are a distant sixth position with only 22 points to show from 15 outings while Highlanders are a disappointing ninth position with a paltry 18 points from 14 outings.
And, as the league programmes gets past the half way stage of the campaign the vexing question is whether the so called big guns will be able to stop the Motor Action jagger naught given the huge gap they have opened so far.
Motor Action coach Joey Antipas remains cautious even though his side has emerged as the favourites to land the crown.
“The challenge for us right now is to stay focused right up to the final whistle. It is that ability to withstand the pressure at this stage that can give us the championship but we do not want to be
carried away at this stage although we are playing well. We will take each game as it comes. We are not worried about what others are doing but we are simply focusing on our assignments,” says Antipas.
In 20008 Norman Mapeza’s Monomotapa won the coveted league title at the expense of Dynamos before Gunners beat the Harare giants to the challenge in the last lap of the league race last term to lift their maiden league title in two years of elite football. That virtually changed the natural order of domestic football.
Could this year be another year for the under dogs? only time will tell.
