Cosmo, Bosso close to twinning deal

bossoJOHANNESBURG - South African first division club, Jomo Cosmos, and former Zimbabwean champions Highlanders are discussing a twinning agreement that would enhance players movements between the two clubs.

In an interview with The Zimbabwean this week, Cosmos communications officer, Lucky Mhlathe, said discussions were at an advanced stage.

Club boss Jomo Sono has mentioned a possible twining arrangement that would see us loan Highlanders some players while getting players from them in return, he said.

The discussions follow a two-legged Ubuntu Derby that the two teams played in Johannesburg and Bulawayo recently.

Cosomos edged Bosso 1-0 in Bulwayo last weekend in a series of matches aimed at prooting the fight against xenophobia. Mhlathi hailed the tour of Zimbabwe and the slender victory.

This was an excellent result for us. We took the Cup through a 1-0 aggregate score without conceding which is encouraging. The coach (Sono) was pleased with the way the boys played and things look bright for us. We believe we have assembled a good squad that will be able to compete with the best that the National first Division, he added.
