Dhewas soul searching

tongai_moyoMARONDERA - One of the top Sungura music kings, Tongai Moyo Dhehwa (pictured), took music fans here down memory lane over the weekend, with a mixture of both old and new songs.

The Kwekwe-based Utakataka music outfit thrilled thousands of its fans at the Agriculture Show over the weekend with highly educative and entertaining songs.

Do you want the latest release? asked the lively artist before treating fans to a song which restrained house-wives from name calling their husbands.

Dhewas songs seemed carefully selected for a purpose. He went on to play songs advising people to be resilient and enduring during hard times. Dhewa anokakata bhande implied the musician and everyone else had what it takes to endure tough situations.

One of Dhewas songs reminded fans that some people thrived on evil committed under darkness. Whatever was committable only at odd and dark hours was not socially acceptable.

Dhewa unexpectedly wrapped up the gig before mid-night when fans were calling for more. He started churning out music at 7 pm and the show lasted not more than four hours. Disappointed fans had to contend with disco music until early morning.
