In an interview, ZINASU President, who is also a student at the college, Tafadzwa Mugwabi, said that there had been an influx of food vendors at the University.
Its very unfortunate and deplorable that the glorious institution is now in ruins. Our college has been reduced to a pathetic state, said Mugwabi.
Even though the college has a canteen to serve meals to the students, the food according to Mugwabi is expensive.
The canteen has been privatised. The food is too expensive and so students rely on food sold at the gate which does not meet the basic health standards. We are wary of another outbreak of diseases, said Mugabi.
Due to water shortages there was an outbreak of diarrhoea at the college last year and only the timely intervention by UNICEF, which drilled boreholes to provide safe drinking water, prevented a disaster.
