Jordaan who was the head of the 2010 World Cup Organizing Committee has accepted a seconding from the South African Football Association (SAFA) for one of the executive committee positions within CAF, which will be left vacant after the departure of former SAFA president Molefi Oliphant.

Oliphant, who was both an executive member and one of CAFs vice presidents, has not received the backing of SAFA to retain his posts ahead of the closing of nominations on November 24 this year and Jordaan will now be banking on the support of the powerful COSAFA region when elections are held early next year.

African football has to compete with the world and Jordaans experience during the World Cup will benefit Africa. We want to make sure that his experience is properly utilized at international level and his competency will benefit the entire continent, said SAFA president Kirsten Nematandani.

Jordaan has made it clear that his aim is to become the president of CAF before attempting to fulfill his ultimate dream becoming the first African to assume the FIFA presidency.

Jordaans profile as a competent football administrator has continued to grow since the World Cup. The way he headed the finals local organising committee of that saw him being roped in as a member of the FIFA inspection team that is assessing all the bids for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

With the support of countries such as Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Botswana, Namibia and Angola in the COSAFA region, Jordaan just needs a few East and West African votes to get into the powerful CAF executive structures.
