Konecranes expansion

JOHANNESBURG A South African crane manufacturer said it enjoyed doing business with Zimbabwean companies and might consider opening a branch in the country, where it already has some of its equipment.

Konecranes, a Finnish-owned company and overhead crane industry leader, is in business with a number of Zimbabwean companies, according to a company executive.

Our business dealings with Zimbabwe have been very good and our biggest customers have been mining companies, Leone Strydom, Konecranes Sales Executive, told The Zimbabwean in Johannesburg last week.

He said that the company was currently involved in the two-phased expansion of Zimplats Ngezi mine, which began in July.

Although he admitted that they had not yet worked with many of the indigenous mines, Strydom said his company was looking at widening its base to deal with them.

We want to expand and work with more of the smaller guys because our main aim is to push our brand in Zimbabwe as we move into the whole of Africa, added Strydom.
