HARARE - After waiting for more than two years, one of Zimbabwes top sungura artistes, Alick Macheso Macheso and his band members, who form the popular Orchestra Mberikwazvo ensemble, where in the studios last weekend. Machesos manager William Tsandukwa confirmed that the group recorded their album.
It is a completely new album and most of the songs have never been played at the shows. He did this to counter piracy, said a source within the Orchestra Mberikwazvo group.
The songs that had become popular include Chimoko Changu (My Girlfriend), Nguva Yekutenda (Time For Thanksgiving) and Tafadzwa Nyarara (Dont Cry Tafadzwa).
It is yet to be seen whether he will include the songs on the new album.
