Legislator Dumbu said he was taking advantage of the large gatherings organized by self-styled war veteran leader Jabulani Sibanda. He said at the same meetings he is telling people that they should not listen to Sibanda who is threatening them for not being loyal to Zanu (PF).

Dumbu said he was encouraging the Masvingo community not to be influenced by outsiders and to learn to resolve their differences as brothers and sisters rather than resorting to violence. “We are telling people that they should not kill each other or fight to place one person in power and they seem to understand that,” he said. The war veteran leader is in Masvingo where he is spearheading a terror campaign code named Operation Kubudirana pachena in which he claims to be reminding the people the history of the nation.

At the meetings it is said Sibanda starts by narrating the history of the liberation struggle before chanting Zanu (PF) slogans and emphasizing that the liberation party was the only political party which should rule the country. Legislator Dumbu said he has been telling MDC supporters to attend the Jabulani Sibanda meetings where he would also address the crowd. The MDC last month pleaded for police intervention in Sibanda’s terror campaign but nothing was done.
