Students arrested

police_brutality3HARARE - Two students at Great Zimbabwe University are still langushing in prison after the police arrested them for demostrating without police clearance as required by the nefarious Public Order Security Act (POSA) on Wednsday.

Brighton Ramusi and Godfrey Kurauone are still in police custody while some of their collegues with whom they held the demostration were released and will be called to court by way of summons.

According to tertiary institutions students’ representative body ZINASU some of the students were arrested after they were caught discussing with the two. “Students were arrested on the basis of inciting public violence which is contrary to the actions of these student activists,” said ZINASU in a statement.

Despite the presence of the Unity Government that is led by President Mugabe and Morgan Tsvangirai himself a a victim of POSA when he was still in opposition, police in the country have arrested people who dare express themselves by way of demostrations. Recently police arrested 83 members of Women of Zimbabwe Arise WOZA) who had demostrated for their libaties
