Never before have music greats held a free show at this growth point where entertainment was a luxury beyond reach of locals. Hunger for musical entertainment was manifested by wild jubilation and robust jiving by villagers of all ages as musicians belted out hit songs from both old and new releases.

Hosiah Chipanga and the Broadway Sounds thrilled the audience with their latest album Madzimbahwe. Dreadlocked Sungura King, Cephas Mashakada, gave his best with great songs such as Basa ndasiya ndapedza, Samson and dozens of other thrillers which took the rural audience down memory lane. To put icing sugar on the already thriller of a night, R and K wound back the hands of time and threw music fans to late nineties with their all time great release, Tina. Fans could not help but endear themselves to the most talented and youngest music outfit in the country.

When the Chitungwiza based R and K belted out hit song, Post Card, most of the jubilant members of the audience shed tears of joy. The elderly and the young mingled freely on the dance floor as at the moment, age proved to be nothing but a number. It was an age blind musical gig. The elderly in their 60s could be seen out-jiving the youth on the stage. It was a rare occasion when people forgot their economic situations and buried political differences as they jived the night away.

It was a momentous time. We rarely have musical entertainment in my home area, Uzumba. The last time I took to the jiving floor was early eighties in Harare. This show brought back memories when my husband was proposing me some 30 years ago. We used to have good times at musical shows in Highfields, Harare, said Uzumba Villager, Maria Makina (60).
