On acquitting Dziva, the magistrate noted that the State had no sufficient evidence that Mugabe had been insulted by the accused. The magistrate also castigated the police for arresting people on ridiculous charges. The youths were demonstrating for the arrest and prosecution of all perpetrators of political violence that led to the death of over 500 MDC members in 2008.
Meanwhile, the MP for Mbizo in Kwekwe, Midlands North province, Hon. Settlement Chikwinya on Monday officially opened the Kwekwe Mining and Industrial Business Expo at the Kwekwe Mining Museum. The business expo, which ran under the theme; Kwekwe Rise and Shine was attended by hundreds of miners, businesspeople and ordinary residents.
In his speech, Hon. Chikwinya urged small-scale miners to take advantage of the improving economic environment in the country to scale up their businesses. He added the expo was an opportunity for the miners to market themselves to the corporate world.
Kwekwe and the surrounding areas are rich in mining resources such as gold and chrome.
