You need confidence in each and every game, were the words goalkeeper Washington Arubi (pictured) used when the clubs website asked him how he keeps a cool head at key moments in big matches.

It was this confidence that saw him not only put in another excellent shift keeping goals out, but also bang in the winner at the other end in Sundays tightly contested match at Rufaro stadium. A cool head was certainly needed, as the goal Arubi scored from the penalty spot could mark the key turning point in this seasons title race.

Everyone expected fireworks when the two top teams in the country locked horns, and the encounter did not disappoint. Despite the furore over the penalty that won it in the end, the Glamour Boys were deserved winners and would have scored anyway had Sam Mutenheri not handled a goal bound header from Evans Gwekwerere in the dying minutes. Goal getter Evans Gwekwerere proved he has shaken off the knock he sustained in the previous match against CAPS United, when he headed home sweetly in the 36th minute to put De Mbare ahead after a cross from Thabani Kamusoko. Influential Mighty Bulls midfielder Allan Gahadzikwa equalised from the penalty spot on 47 minutes when Guthrie Zhokinyi handled in the box after falling. Despite this error, Zhokinyi and defence partner George Magariro where resolute all afternoon. When the referee ordered a retake of the penalty missed by Murape Murape in the final minute, the pressure of consummating an entire seasons graft by beating the log leaders fell upon the most unlikely of choices, goalkeeper Washington Arubi. The shot stopper went on to send Marlon Jani the wrong way and kick off party time in Mbare. Four Motor Action players had trespassed into the penalty area resulting in the referees decision to retake the penalty. Dynamos assistant coach Tichaona Diya said, Like we said before, this was a must-win game and I am happy that they guys have done that.

The result leaves Dynamos with 57 points, just one shy of Motor Action with a game in hand on the log leaders. This was a game the Glamour Boys had to win, and they showed they have the character needed to grind out a victory when it counts the most.
