CAF announced Monday morning that the draw for the continental soccer showpiece, contested for strictly by African players plying their trade in their home countries domestic leagues, will be held in Khartoum, Sudan, on Saturday.
According to the continental body, the 16 participating teams, including the Zimbabwe Warriors, will be drawn into four groups of four each, with each team playing a game against each of their opponents, in a round robin basis.
Hosts Sudan qualified automatically for the finals, while the other 15 teams emerged from the qualifying series.
Other teams participating in this second edition of the tournament are Algeria and Tunisia (Northern Zone); Mali and Senegal (Zone West A); Ghana, Ivory Coast and Niger (Zone West B); Cameroon, Gabon and DRC (Central Zone); Uganda and Rwanda (Central-East Zone); Angola, South Africa and Zimbabwe (Southern Zone).
DRC lifted the inaugural edition of the competition, while Zimbabwe came out in a disappointing sixth position, having achieved only three draws in as many matches and the Warriors will be seeking to win this years tournament to atone for that disappointment.
The tournament is slated to run from February 4-25 2011, in Khartoum, Sudan.
