Women have never walked behind any man. Women have always been in the forefront. This is demonstrated by the work we do as women. We are workers, organisers, managers, advisors and more importantly, we are nation builders. One woman can make a difference but many women can change the world, she said.
Zanu PF special interest councillors in Marondera municipality, Mashonaland East province have hired Zanu PF youths to disrupt 2011 council pre-budget consultations. The Mayor of the MDC led council, Farai Nyandoro said four meetings were this week disrupted by over 100 rowdy Zanu PF thugs in the town wearing Zanu PF regalia. The meetings were held at Dombotombo Hall, Mbuya Nehanda, Rakodzi and Cherutombo. Marondera municipality has 12 councillors, all from the MDC. However, Mayor Nyandoro said this was the first time in 30 years that the council had engaged the residents before announcing the budget. He said in the meetings, it was resolved to slash high density suburbs rates from US$23 to US$13 and from US$46 to US$31 from January 2011.
In Midlands North, the MDC womens Assembly today held a real change womens forum in Mbizo to encourage women to be part of the nation building process. The forums are being spearheaded by the MDC Womens Assembly Chairperson, Hon Theresa Makone.
