Stakeholders, perpetrators of violence and victims were given an opportunity to give their side of the story.
The victims mainly MDC-T supporters, said they had lost livestock and homes and been denied access to drought power and tractors by Zanu (PF). The JOMIC team took photographs of destroyed homesteads and recorded accusations levelled against Zanu (PF).
The accused persons denied the charges and insisted that MDC supporters should repent and turn Zanu (PF) for their ordeal to come to an end.
MDC supporters are cowards and cry babies ready to seek protection from higher offices at the slightest misunderstanding among communities. They should seek justice from local Zanu (PF) leadership such as headmen, councillors and party officials instead of rushing to the media. They also refused to participate in local farmers produce showcasing, said Zanu (PF) officials.
The MDC members said local Zanu (PF) and traditional leadership were the culprits at the centre of their ordeal.
MDC-T chairperson for Marondera East Rural and ward 19 councillor, Samuel Machekanyanga, urged party supporters to participate freely in community programmes and reprimanded wayward Zanu (PF) officials for their intolerance.
It is your right to live in the community without fear. You should pay taxes to the local authority like everybody else. As for Zanu (PF) officials, you should be responsible and tolerant. Faith Ngoma, as ministry of women affairs ward coordinator, you are employed and paid by government at tax payers expense. Your partisan hehaviour forces people to question the objectives and professionalism of your ministry. You should be professional or ship out of government, he said.
Machekanyanga took a swipe at political leaders who abused other peoples children as terror machines. They do not employ their own children to terrorise people. They use other peoples children, whose horrific acts haunt them for the remainder of their lives. The District Administrators office has created untold confusion among villagers. This leaves one wondering whether the DA is a civil servant or a politician.
To disrupt the JOMIC fact finding mission, Zanu (PF) ferried truckloads of party youth to the venue. As business was in progress, the youths held a rally nearby. Some of them later invaded the proceedings masquerading as stakeholders.
