It was a match that swung one way and then the other, with the result in doubt until the final ball. The Mash Eagles had a phenomenal return from their second Stanbic Bank 20 series final without any silverware.
Mash Eagles had the good fortune to win the toss and were therefore able to bat first in good conditions. They scored 167 for seven, not an impossible target but one which gave Eagles the advantage in such a tense final.
In reply, Rhinos made a confident start but failed to post enough runs needed to win the tournament for the first time. They found the going tough facing Andrew Hall in the final over when they needed just seven runs with three wickets in hand..
Man of the match Ryan Butterworth commended his teams fighting spirit, “It has been a fantastic tournament for me and all the other local guys. This was our second final and I am happy we managed to win the title this time. It has been a tight game and they had nearly won it but we knew that with Hall bowling the last over it could go either way. He is one of the best death bowlers and with all his experience we had no doubt”.
