MUTARE - Controversial army general Douglas Nyikaramba last week told a Zanu (PF) meeting here that Movement for Democratic Change officials from the Morgan Tsvangirai faction who are supporting sanctions on Zimbabwe should be hanged. (Pictured: Simon Khaya Moyo)

Nyikayaramba who is well known for his controversial statements said such MDC-T members should not be allowed to roam freely in the country after the elections next year.

Those MDC people must be hanged once and for all. The army will not let such people roam freely in our country after elections. Its high time we deal with such people,Nyikayaramba threatened.

Nyikayaramba also said MDC-T will not be allowed to campaign in rural areas without the clearance from traditional leadership.

Only war veterans and chiefs will be allowed to hold rallies in the province because they fought for this country, he said, adding Those who defy orders will be dealt with accordingly by our deployed officers.

Zanu (PF) National Chairman, Simon Khaya Moyo told the same gathering not to take inclusive government seriously but as a joke.

Inclusive government is a joke, please dont take it serious. We want President Mugabe to win and form a serious government next year. Its just a passing phase that must never be taken serious, said Moyo.

He said the party cannot be said to be doing serious business while working with people like Tsvangirai.

Nyikayaramba last week deployed army officers to oil up Zanu (PF) campaign machinery in rural areas such as Chimanimani, Buhera, Nyanga and Makoni which are MDC-T strongholds.

The move is being seen by MDC supporters as a desperate attempt by Zanu (PF) to wrestle seats lost to MDC-T during the 2008 harmonised elections.

Villagers in these districts said the deployed soldiers were harassing and intimidating them because they were accusing them for supporting the MDC.
