MDC revives SA structures

mdc_symbolJOHANNESBURG - Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirais MDC received an overwhelming response from Zimbabweans here when over 500 people turned up at Hillbrow Theatre for the launch of the partys branch in the sprawling suburb. The MDC-T had seemingly gone quiet since the formation of a national unity government back home, but has since gone on a campaign to resuscitate al

The partys chairman for Johannesburg district, Remember Moyo, said the launch of the Hillbrow branch was the beginning of bigger activities for the party, which is preparing to beat President Robert Mugabes Zanu (PF), as it did in 2008.

I am sure that if the elections go ahead more than 80 per cent of the electorate will vote for our party and Tsvangirai, said Moyo.

It is sad that in our absence during the past few months, some of our supporters had drifted to such pressure groups like Zapu, which are trying to lead them astray, as they have no national agenda. Zapu is just a party that was set up by Zanu (PF) to divide the vote, especially in Matabeleland, but I am happy that most people have realised that and remained resolute with the MDC.

We know that the people of Zimbabwe did not vote for a power-sharing government and did not vote for President Morgan Tsvangirai to be Zimbabwes Prime Minister. They voted for the MDC and Tsvangirai to rule Zimbabwe and that is the goal we are pursuing. I would like to call upon our supporters here in South Africa to take advantage of the current documentation process to apply for passports, which will enable them to travel home and register to vote so that we complete the process of change that we are about to finish, added Moyo.
