Three councillors from Bulawayo and Umzingwane in Matebeleland South at the weekend dumped the Arthur Mutambara led formation to rejoin the MDC. The councillors are Jennifer Bent from Ward 6, Dr John Ferguson, Ward 4 both from Bulawayo and Charles Mpofu from Ward 4 Umzingwane. They become part of a large number of councillors and members from Mutambaras party in Matabeleland region who have dumped him and rejoined the MDC.


Councillors Bent and Ferguson made the announcement at Small City Hall where President Morgan Tsvangirai was addressing an MDC consultative meeting. Councillor Mpofu dumped Mutambara and his party at a rally in Umzingwane which was being addressed by the MDC national chairperson, Hon. Lovemore Moyo.

Meanwhile a Mutare magistrate, Lucy Mugwari today deferred to December 10 the case in which Nyanga North MP, Hon. Douglas Mwonzora is appealing to the Supreme Court challenging his trial for undermining the authority of the President. The same magistrate further postponed the case of MDC Makoni Central chairperson, Teddy Chipere who is facing similar charges of undermining the authority of the President.
