Pacesetters Motor Action are inactive this weekend following a ruling by the league management which resolved that the two leading contenders should play their remaining matches of the season on the same day to ensure Fair Play as the 2010 league season looks set to go down to the wire.

There has been a fierce row over Dynamos outstanding game against Gunners, which had threatened to derail the conclusion of the season with Motor Action insisting they would not play any more matches until DeMbare had caught up on their fixtures backlog.

On the other hand, Gunners had also refused to fulfil their encounter against DeMbare in mid-week, arguing that they would be deprived of revenue.

The Gunners/Dynamos game has been outstanding since the opening day of the season when DeMbare failed to turn up at Rufaro on April 17, arguing that they could not play two games in as many days as they were involved in the Independence Trophy final the following day.

It is against this background that the PSL decided to give Motor Action a bye this weekend to allow Dynamos to catch up with them, which also opens the way for DeMbare to occupy pole position should they win todays fixture.

Motor Action leading the premiership standings with 58 points from 26 matches while Dynamos reduced the gap by one point after edging the Mighty Bulls 2-1 in an ill tempered league match at Rufaro last Sunday.

Dynamos have 57 points from 24 matches and a win by any margin will see them displacing The Mighty Bulls at the top of the table.

Dynamos coach Elvis Chiweshe said in an interview with The Zimbabwean on Sunday last week that it was important for them to win the match against Gunners to ease pressure on his charges ahead of the remaining matches.

“This is a great opportunity for the team to go on top of the log for the first time. We need to be disciplined throughout because this title is likely to be decided on the very last day of the season. We have to avoid mistakes at this stage and make sure we get all points stake. We have to win against Gunners to ease pressure on the team,” explained Chiweshe.

Motor Action who were unhappy following their controversial defeat by Dynamos at the weekend will be rooting for Gunners, hoping the defending champions will be able to throw a spanner in the works for Dynamos’ title campaign.

However, Gunners who are on fourth place will also be looking to finish third and secure a slot in the less glamorous Confederation of African Football (Caf Cup) and are likely to give Dynamos a good run for their money.

Gunners team manager Wellington Mupandare said: “There will be total war on Sunday at Rufaro. Our players are motivated to play in Africa again after playing in the African Champions League and they know what it means to play at that level. They are ready for Dynamos.”
