GWAZE WINS BOTSWANA CHESS OPEN

chessZimbabwe chess sensation ROBERT "FISCHER"GWAZE won the just ended Botswana Open which was held in Gaborone , Botswana.The tourney was played from the10th -12th of December.

The tournament had 7 rounds of play and he won 6 games and drew his fourth game against Barileng Gaealafshwe of Botswana.In that game Barileng played white while Gwaze was black. He also met his country man Spencer Masango in the sixth round and he beat him.In the final round of play he was pitted against Abdul Kamara of Botswana whom he dismissed to pocket a cool $1000 as the first prize.Notha Moakofi the Botswana chess wonder boy finished a credible second position with 6 points from 7 games of play half a point behind Gwaze.Nkasaya Chanda of Zambia came third with 5,5 points.Another Zimbabwean Dion Moyo came fourth with 5,5 points.He is the current Zimbabwe National Champion.The other Zimbabweans who took part in the tournament are ;Peacemaker Dyakuseni who finished with

3,5 points,Maxwell Machoko had 3 points and Joseph Moyo had 2 points.

Meanwhile all is set for the Zimawe chess Open to be held from New Year.Top players including Robert Gwaze,Rodwell Makoto who is based in South Africa,Dion Moyo,Spencer Masango and Elisha Chimbamu as well as other players from neighouring countries will be vying for the top prize.Wishing you a merry Christmas and a prosperous 2011.
