MIDDLE SABI In its desperate attempts to win back supporters in Middle Sabi, Zanu (PF) has deployed youth militias and war veterans here.
Teachers and members from private institutions including NGOs and churches have been labelled as MDC supporters who voted against the Zanu (PF) party during the last elections.
The losing Zanu (PF) Member of Parliament for the area Enoch Porusingazi is directing youth militias to move door-to-door forcing the villagers to attend Zanu (PF) rallies and other meetings.
The most unfortunate thing is that some of the traditional leaders are now taking the law into their hands. We have been told to vacate our home areas if we do not attend the Zanu (PF) rallies and meetings. We are being ordered to chant Zanu (PF) slogans and propagate their policies. They are accusing us for masterminding the downfall of Zanu (PF) in Middle Sabi, said a villager who refused to be named for fear of reprisals.
The MDC officials in the area have confirmed intimidation of their supporters in some parts of Manicaland. Samuel Kachuma an official from MDC said: Yes, we can confirm about the intimidation of our supporters. We have visited some of the affected members of our party and offered assistance.
