Masike takes Zim music to Norway

HARARE - Afro-Rhythms sensation Hope Masike is set to take the Zimbabwean rhythm to Norway in a one year programme starting early next month.

Under the programme Masike will be based at a Culture School in the main city of Oslo, teaching various aspect of African music including vocals and mbira.

An upbeat Masike told The Zimbabwean that her one year stint in Europe is an opportunity to be an ambassador of Zimbabwes music and culture.

During the tour, I will show that there are a lot of good things that can come out of Zimbabwe, it is not just a country of poverty and political violence, but it also have many things to offer, she said.

Apart from teaching, I will also have an opportunity to perform because from June to August I will be touring around Norway and neighbouring countries like Sweden and hopefully I will be able to bring the band for that period.

Masike held a small private solo farewell concert last month but she says a bigger goodbye concert comprising her whole band is on the cards.

I will be announcing the dates for the final show soon.
