Eric Rosen, the Motor Action director who is the sole sponsor of the team told The Zimbabwean on Sunday that they were entering into the African Safari at a time when the economy had not stabilised. He said unlike in the past he was struggling to keep the club afloat.
“We are interested in taking part in the tournament but the problem is financing the team. The situation is different from other countries where clubs are financed by the government. Here in Zimbabwe it is very difficult because you sponsor the team from your own pockets that is why you see big clubs like Dynamos also seeks government
assistance, said Rosen.
He added: We will also try to seek government assistance to finance the team but if we fail to secure the money we might not take part in the tournament. We have already submitted our name to ZIFA to say that we will be interested to take part in Africa but all that depends on the availability of money.
Motor Action was funded in 2000 from the ashes of the defunct Blackpool, whose franchise was bought over by Rosen.
The Mighty Bulls are currently leading the pack in the race for the coveted league title with 59 points from 27 games while Dynamos are trailing behind with 57 points from the same number of games.
