Mugabe plans handover to Mnangagwa

emmerson_mnangagwa2HARARE Zimbabwe is heading towards a full-scale civil conflict as Robert Mugabe deploys troops across the country to secure re-election followed by the imposition of Defence Minister Emmerson Mnangagwa (Pictured) as his successor.

Highly placed sources in state intelligence and the military have revealed that the Zimbabwe National Army is deploying across the country with full combat equipment and with orders to carry out raids on villagers. A member of the army stationed at the Zimbabwe Military Intelligence Directorate (MID) supplied copies of secret military communications marked Highly Classified.

He said Zanu (PF), with the assistance of South Africas ruling ANC and other SADC states, was involved in a plot to make Mnangagwa president in place of Mugabe.

Under the new constitution, a sitting president retiring from office will be allowed to nominate his successor. A majority vote will be passed in Parliament for the new president to take charge for the remainder of the term without calling for general elections.

The plan is in line with the long political process crafted with the assistance of former South African President Thabo Mbeki.

High-level Zanu (PF) sources this week made the startling revelation that Mnangagwa had an invisible hand in crafting the global political agreement Mbekis brainchild.

He spent a considerable time going up and down to South Africa soon after Mugabe was defeated by MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai in 2008. He met Mbeki, then president, on several occasions to plot a solution to protect Mugabe and Zanu (PF) from losing power.

Mnangagwa, Mbeki, Mugabe and the army generals really know where this GPA thing is going, a Zanu (PF) central committee member said. You see they somehow control the process, because they conceived it way ahead of our partners in the inclusive government. Mnangagwa himself is using it for his own political calculations.
