Project director, Chris Kabwato, said ZIP had evolved from being an online source of pictures to a programme that included training and photographic services.
After three years of providing coverage of the Zimbabwean story in pictures, we realised there was a gap in training. With the assistance of the United States Embassys Public Affairs Section we have acquired equipment and resource persons to enable us to implement the training, he said.
As the old saying goes, a picture paints a thousand words. This is especially true in todays digital world where we are able to capture and share instantly the most important moments in our lives – from the birth of a baby to historic national events. We are very excited about working with Zimbabwe in Pictures, said Sharon Hudson Dean, Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy.
The project was launched in February 2008 as an online photographic news service. The project has covered the Zimbabwean elections, the xenophobic attacks in South Africa and other many social and political events.
