HARARE - Unhappy with the participation of youths in the recent Constitution-making process and lack of interest in registering as voters the MDC-T Youth Assembly will soon launch a newsletter to encourage the younger people to participate in national events.
Solomon Madzore, the Assemblys Secretary General said that as the country becomes more focused on a possible vote next year it was imperative that the Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirais MDC party reached out to the youths of the country.
We were really saddened by the number of youths who participated in the constitution making process. And we are aware that youths are not registered voters. So as the MDC-T Youth Assembly we would like to have a newsletter that will reach out specifically to the younger generation, so that they not only register as voters but also get to participate in elections, said Madzore.
Zanu (PF), which controls voters registration through the office of the Registrar General Tobaiwa Mudede, has been targeting youth in rural areas perceived to be Zanu (PF) strongholds to register as voters but has ignored urban centres.
